The Most Advanced Gut Health Test Available
The GI-MAP (Gastrointestinal Microbial Assay Plus) uses cutting-edge Quantitative PCR (qPCR) technology to provide the most accurate and comprehensive analysis of your gut microbiome.
Unlike traditional stool tests that only tell you "positive" or "negative," the GI-MAP measures exact quantities of organisms, giving you and your practitioner precise, actionable data.
This revolutionary approach means you get personalized treatment plans based on YOUR unique gut ecosystem, not generic protocols that may or may not work for you.

GI-MAP Test FAQ
Technical questions about the test and what to expect
qPCR (Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction) detects and measures the DNA of microorganisms with extraordinary precision. Unlike culture-based tests that only tell you if something is present or not, qPCR provides exact quantitative measurements. This means we can detect organisms at trace levels (as few as 100 cells/gram) and track changes over time as you undergo treatment. It's the same technology used in research laboratories and is considered the gold standard for diagnostic testing.
The lab we use, Diagnostic Solutions Labs, is the only lab in the United States using qPCR exclusively for comprehensive stool testing. Other tests use standard PCR (less sensitive), culture methods (slower, incomplete), or DNA sequencing (not quantitative). The GI-MAP's quantitative results allow for personalized treatment protocols; we know exactly how much of each organism is present, so our practitioners can prioritize interventions appropriately.
The functional markers assess how well your gut is working beyond just microbial balance: Calprotectin measures intestinal inflammation, Secretory IgA indicates immune system function, Pancreatic Elastase shows digestive enzyme production, Zonulin reveals intestinal permeability (leaky gut), Beta-Glucuronidase indicates detoxification capacity, and Anti-gliadin IgA screens for gluten sensitivity. These markers help identify root causes beyond just infections.
Yes! The GI-MAP includes antibiotic resistance gene testing for H. pylori. This is crucial because it tells your practitioner which antibiotics won't work, preventing ineffective treatments that could harm your beneficial gut bacteria. We also offer natural treatment protocols that don't contribute to antibiotic resistance.
The GI-MAP uses color-coded ranges: Green (Normal) means within healthy reference range, Yellow (Elevated) means above normal but not yet clinically significant; monitor and consider supporting gut health, and Red (High) means clinically significant elevation requiring intervention. Your practitioner will interpret these in context of your symptoms and health history to create a personalized treatment plan.
Turnaround time is typically 7-10 business days from when the lab receives your sample. You'll schedule a results consultation with our practitioner once your report is ready.
Yes! Retesting (typically 3-6 months after treatment) is highly recommended. Because the GI-MAP provides quantitative results, we can see objective improvements: parasites resolved, pathogen levels reduced, beneficial bacteria increased, and inflammation markers normalized. This data-driven approach ensures your treatment is working.
For most accurate results: wait 4 weeks after finishing antibiotics, continue taking probiotics as normal (we want to see your current state), and wait 2 weeks after finishing antifungals. However, if symptoms are severe, consult with your practitioner about testing timing.
The GI-MAP Comprehensive Stool Test is $650, which includes:
- Complete test kit with prepaid shipping both ways
- Advanced qPCR DNA analysis of your gut microbiome
- Detailed results report
- 60-minute consultation with Dr. Bryn Kanuck to review your results
- Personalized healing protocol based on your unique findings
This is an investment in understanding the root causes of your symptoms and creating a targeted treatment plan, not just treating symptoms with guesswork.
